Mifa has been working for a leading German microscope manufacturer for several years. Following a masterclass in precision extrusion, the client asked if we would like to help them come up with a completely new product. An attractive and functional profi le was developed in cooperation with their engineers and designers.
Dutch Railways (NS) is refurbishing its VIRM-2/3 double-decker trains. At NS Treinmodernisering (the NS train modernization facility) in Haarlem (known to MIFA as NedTrain), the company is hard at work refurbishing the famous NS double-decker trains. Together, the double-decker trains represent 242 carriages and 24,500 seats. For this project, Mifa will produce and deliver 8,350 KITS for floor profiles. We will extrude, machine-process (CNC), bend, engrave, and apply surface treatment these floor profiles in-house.
At Mifa Surface Treatment we can provide complete surface treatments. We have fully automated production lines at our disposal, as well as the technical know-how to advise our customers and help them choose a solution that best meets their needs. We specialize in electroplating and offer mechanical and electrochemical surface treatments too. We can also supply polymer layers based on dip coating, spray coating, and powder coating processes, as well as priming and wet painting. It is unique for a company to have all this under one roof, and we are proud of that fact.
You will often hear or read about a future in which robots have stolen our jobs. ‘This is nonsense,’ says Rob van Oene, director of Mifa. ‘Robots make our work easier and are a valuable addition.’ Much of the heavy and repetitive work that is still being done by people can also be done by robots. In this way, employees can concentrate on the more interesting activities – a win-win for everyone involved.
