Mifa ensures consistency and quality at weaving machine manufacturer Picanol

By utilising vertical integration

In a machine of such magnitude, the profiles must be manufactured with exceptional precision. Picanol, the leading producer of rapier and airjet weaving machines, is a global leader in weaving technology. More than 20 years ago, they approached Mifa with the request for a profile that met the following criteria: consistency, accuracy, and quality. These are the very qualities that we continue to deliver in large volumes for Picanol to this day.

Continuous quality and precision for Picanol’s weaving machines

Picanol is a manufacturer of weaving machines that use both airjet and rapier technology to produce high‑quality fabrics and textiles. With machines in which the rapiers can weave up to 800 times per minute, precision is crucial to ensure optimal performance. Mifa supplies aluminium extrusion profiles in the form of slides, which are essential to the operation of Picanol’s rapier weaving machines.

The aluminium profiles produced by Mifa – the slides – play a vital role in the functioning of these machines. The rapiers transport a thread from one side to the other, gliding at high speed through the profiles. Absolute precision is essential, as any mechanical deviation can cause interruptions or thread breakage. For this reason, Picanol is highly selective when choosing its suppliers, and Mifa is the most suitable partner for producing these aluminium profiles, given our ability to extrude with exceptional accuracy.

Van extrusie tot assemblage: Mifa is een one-stop-shop

Mifa Aluminium serves as a one‑stop shop for many customers. With more than 50 years of expertise and experience, we are able to offer every required technique for the desired profile – and even set up complete production lines for it. This is also the case for Picanol.

The production process for Picanol
The production process for Picanol’s profiles begins with the extrusion of the aluminium profiles. Our precision extrusion ensures highly accurate profiles, which are then further machined to specification in our CNC department. Subsequently, inserts – steel tubes – are placed into the aluminium profiles in our assembly department.

We supply Picanol with a high volume of profiles, for which we provide all required techniques within a complete, integrated process under one roof. By keeping the entire process in‑house, we can guarantee quality and continue to meet Picanol’s stringent requirements.
