Aluminium alloy EN AW 6061

The EN AW 6061 alloy is a versatile aluminium alloy known for its excellent mechanical properties and good corrosion resistance. The alloy is commonly used in various applications – from aerospace to transportation and construction.

Properties of aluminium 6061 alloy

The 6061 alloy mainly contains aluminium, with additions of magnesium and silicon. The combination of these materials provides a good balance between workability and strength. The aluminium alloy is easy to weld and process, making it a popular choice for both structural and non-structural applications. It is also widely regarded as an aerospace aluminium alloy.

One of the main advantages of the aluminium 6061 alloy is its high tensile strength, which can vary depending on the heat treatment applied to the material. As a result, the alloy is suitable for applications where both durability and strength are required – such as in airplanes.
