What is a prototype?

A prototype is an initial model of an extruded profile, designed to test its design and functionality. Customers often opt for a prototype first to verify the design and functionality before proceeding with large-scale production.

The benefits of prototypes at Mifa

Aluminium prototypes offer significant advantages on the way to series production. Because the initial production threshold is low, the barrier to getting started is relatively low as well. This means that a first version of a product can be developed and tested more quickly. This version allows us to implement design and functional specifications at an early stage, saving time and costs during later stages of production.

The development of aluminium prototypes also provides an opportunity to improve and optimise the design before moving into series production.

All techniques under one roof

At Mifa, we extrude from as little as 10 kg, making it suitable for both prototypes and small series. The mould costs for profiles are relatively low, allowing for quick cost recovery. Our high-tech environment is designed for high volumes of extruded profiles, including post-processing such as CNC machining, surface treatments, and assembly. All of this takes place under one roof, ensuring a streamlined and efficient production process.

Precision extrusion

With size tolerances starting from ± 0.02 mm, we go beyond the standard for complex aluminium and magnesium extrusion profiles.

Machining

In a modern machine park with over 30 CNC machines, we perform all operations on aluminium and magnesium profiles.

Surface treatments

With surface treatments such as TUFRAM®, HART-COAT®, and more, we enhance the durability and functionality of every aluminium extrusion profile.

Finishing

We offer techniques such as bending, assembly, belt grinding, marking, and engraving in-house for every possible aluminium and magnesium extrusion profile.
