Mifa appoints a new managing director

Current Commercial Director, Rob van Oene, will be the new Managing Director of Mifa. The extrusion company, a part of Aalberts Industries, announced this on February 1. Van Oene will succeed Geert Smits, who is set to depart on April 1 after 5 successful years.

Under the driven leadership of Geert Smits, Mifa underwent a true transformation in the past 5 years. Mifa developed a new corporate identity focused on its core competency: ‘precision extrusion.’ The AS 9100 quality certificate for the aerospace industry was achieved, enabling Mifa to attract various aerospace clients. Additionally, a contemporary office complex was built by the waterside, two new production halls were constructed for CNC machining, assembly, bending, and belt grinding. The adjacent hall was also acquired to further increase production capacity in 2017, a necessity due to the growing number of clients and the size of the projects.

Geert Smits was undeniably the architect and driving force behind these developments. However, he could only be successful with a strong and ambitious team behind him. Now that the above has been realized, Geert Smits has decided to seek a new challenge and make way for a new managing director as of April 1.

Future Plans for Mifa

Mifa aims to continue this trajectory in the coming years and has ambitious plans. “The choice for a new director who knows the organization inside out, is closely involved in the current strategy, and the new goals, aligns with this vision.

Hence, the decision was made to appoint the current Commercial Director, Rob van Oene. In recent years, Rob van Oene has been responsible for the development and implementation of the successful marketing strategy, achieving excellent results with the sales team. The new director, together with the current Financial Director, Ronald Logtens, will lead Mifa.

Rob van Oene expresses his enthusiasm for his new role: “Mifa is a very modern company with exceptional technologies. It is fantastic to lead it from April 1 onwards. Precision extrusion technology offers many possibilities for engineers. These possibilities are still not well known to all engineers. It is our task to make the potential of this technology and the strength of Mifa more widely known worldwide.”

Rob van Oene started at Mifa as a sales engineer and subsequently worked as a sales manager in various areas before becoming the Commercial Director in 2010.
