From plastic to aluminium: a sustainable choice for Helmut Fischer
Aluminium combines excellent strength, stability and corrosion resistance with a high-quality finish. At Mifa, this high quality is guaranteed throughout the production process. Whether low-volume prototypes or high-volume production of aluminium extrusion profiles, Mifa offers a sustainable solution for every demand. This makes Mifa a unique partner for the measuring instrument supplier: Helmut Fischer Group. Mifa has deployed the processes of extrusion, milling and surface treatments for the company to produce various quantities.
A unique collaboration between Mifa Aluminium and Helmut Fischer for measuring instruments
Helmut Fischer, a unique partner in the field of surface testing, develops and manufactures high-quality measuring instruments for coating thickness measurement, material analysis, nanoidentation and material testing. The measuring devices convince with their high quality and precision.
This quality, durability and value of the devices is also reflected in the device housing and the materials used. A light but stable and high-quality aluminium housing instead of a plastic housing should take this into account.
Helmut Fischer’s mission indicates continuous quality with the highest degree of precision: points that are very highly valued at Mifa. Thus, in our Surface treatment department, we also use the measuring instruments of Helmut Fischer.
Our profile for Helmut Fisher
Why is aluminium better than plastic?
- Strength and durability: aluminium is much stronger and more durable than most plastics. Thus, aluminium is more resistant to wear, deformation and breakage.
- Precision and stability: aluminium has high dimensional stability and is less sensitive to temperature fluctuations than plastic. This ensures that profiles remain more accurate – even under changing environmental conditions.
- Weight and portability: although aluminium is stronger, it is also lightweight, making it excellent for portable instruments.
- Corrosion resistance: aluminium naturally forms an oxide layer that protects it from corrosion. This makes it suitable for use in humid or corrosive environments where plastic would potentially degrade faster. In addition, surface treatments can be performed on aluminium to make its corrosion resistance even better – Mifa also does this in its Surface treatment department.
- Thermal and electrical conductivity: due to aluminium’s good thermal and electrical conductivity properties, temperature-sensitive measurements can be performed on electrical devices.
- Professional appearance and value: aluminium has a premium appearance of high quality.
